Some of our customers and staff have had some truly memorable experiences on holiday in Croatia, here’s a snippet of a few of their stories!
A Bright Orange Starfish
“I just couldn’t believe it. We did a whole day boat trip from Trogir to some tiny islands. At one of the swimming stops, the sea was like a turquoise mirror and then I saw it. In very shallow water where I was just splashing about, something glowed orange from the seabed. It was a starfish! I held it in my hand for just a moment or two before putting it back. I’ll never forget that magical moment!” - Vanessa, Bromley, Kent
Eating with my Hands
“Plates of small fish seemed to be the order of the day and everyone was eating with their hands. I ordered the same. They called them girice I think (or something like that), a kind of whitebait. It was in a tiny fish bar in Porec. The whole lunch was delicious - and a good price!” – Harriet, Cromer, Norfolk
A Wonderful Walking Surprise
“We love outdoor walking especially if there’s something interesting to see. We found the Konavle Walking Festival completely by chance in a leaflet in Dubrovnik where we were staying. It was a sunny October and we joined in for two days. Great bunch of people and we fell in love with the Konavle Valley and Cavtat where we had dinner by the sea one evening. We’re coming back! If you can’t be there for a festival, then you can still get in some great walking whenever your visit.” – John and Susanna, Edinburgh
Three Island Cruise
“My sister and I decided to visit Dubrovnik after watching something on TV. We could only spare four days because of things at home. Our hotel receptionist recommended the three-island cruise (we had no idea!). It was a whole day trip visiting the islands of Sipan, Lopud and Kolocep. The boat was a gorgeous replica of something from past times and each island was exquisite and different, like little jewels. We swam several times in crystal clear waters and had a delicious lunch on board. We still talk about that wonderful day in June last year.” – Sally and Jane, Harrogate
What Holidays Are About
“We were staying in Makarska on our first time to Croatia. Our twin boys (aged 15) refused to leave the pool and join us on the beach. One day we insisted. Suddenly a crowd was in front of us. Dolphins! We couldn’t keep them out of the sea after that and a local chap with a boat took us out a bit and we bobbed around near them for a while.” – David and Stephanie, Bath
The Most Stunning Sunset Location
‘On my first night I noticed an amazing sunset, so the next day I asked the hotel reception staff, ‘where is the best place to watch the Sunset?’ ‘That’s easy,’ they said. ‘If you have a car, or maybe even take a bike, head up the hills to Tematski vidikovac Providenca’ (Viewpoint Providenca)… and wow they were not wrong! This is a beautiful place located in natural surroundings at the very top of Mali Lošinj. It offers unforgettable view on Lošinj archipelago and an extraordinary sunset view. Here you can have a drink from the bar during the day and taste local delicacies in the evening, but booking is essential as this gem of a find was truly magical! – Andy, Completely Croatia
